The Matrícula Consular: A Key Tool to Connect with Mexican Immigrants
The Matrícula Consular de Alta Seguridad (MCAS or Consular Identification Card), is an identification card issued by the Government of Mexico through its consulate offices to Mexican nationals residing outside of Mexico. Matrícula Consulars give immigrants a sense of security and enables them to take advantage of asset-building opportunities offered by responsible lenders. Moreover, the Matrícula Consular is an acceptable form of ID for regulated financial institutions to accept under Customer ID Programs (CIPs).
Join Julian Escutia Rodriguez, head of Consular Coordination and Hispanic Affairs for the Mexican Embassy in Washington, DC, and Pablo DeFilippi, VP of Membership and Business Development, for an exclusive Juntos Avanzamos seminar, including Q&A, on the use of the Matrícula Consular. In this seminar you will learn about the features that make the Matrícula Consular a safe and trusted document for financial institutions.
The Federation has collaborated with the Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior (Institute for Mexicans Abroad or IME) and the network of Mexican consulates in the US for many years. The national expansion of Juntos Avanzamos provides our industry with a unique opportunity to take credit unions interested in serving Hispanic consumers to the next level.
