PATHWAYS

Pathways logoMember education is a fundamental value that sets credit unions apart from other financial institutions. Through education and one-on-one counseling, credit unions direct members to products and services that build and grow their assets, reduce their debt and provide pathways for achieving their goals, while mitigating risk to the institution.

The Federation and Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners launched Pathways to Financial Empowerment in 2015, a new initiative to support and measure the impact of credit union financial counseling for low-income consumers.

After strong initial results with the five pilot credit unions in 2015-2016, the Federation and Neighborhood Trust are expanding the program to new cohort of Beta Cohort credit unions in 2017.

Pathways to Financial Empowerment aims to:

•Strengthen and expand provision of financial counseling in the credit union field
•Integrate counseling with financial products
•Track and demonstrate impact through a custom platform
