Federation Welcomes Nomination of Carla Leon-Decker to NCUA Board

(October 21, 2011 - New York, NY) The Federation welcomes the nomination of Carla Leon-Decker to the NCUA Board.

"DC Federal Credit Union, where Ms. Leon-Decker currently serves as CEO, is a member community development credit union of the Federation, and has played an outstanding role in extending services to the low-income residents of the District of Columbia," said Federation President/CEO Clifford Rosenthal. "We've had the opportunity to collaborate with Carla both domestically and internationally. We have no doubt that she will serve on the NCUA Board with distinction."

Leon-Decker has been active in numerous credit union organizations, is a Credit Union Development Educator, and is a co-founder and director of the Network of Latino Credit Unions and Professionals (NLCUP).

Leon-Decker, whose nomination must be confirmed by the Senate, would succeed NCUA board member Gigi Hyland, who has served since November 2005. Hyland's term expired Aug. 2.
