(July 22, 2010 – New York, NY)  The Federation has annouced a deadline extension for registration to its premier professional development program, the CDCU Institute™, scheduled to take place August 8-13, 2010 in Madison, Wisconsin. The new deadline to register for the 2010 CDCU Institute™ is July 29, 2010.

The first and only professional development program of its type nationwide, the Federation’s CDCU Institute™ provides participants with a unique training experience that focuses on credit union management and community economic development.  Enrollment is open to credit unions of all types and sizes.

Now celebrating its 11th year, the CDCU Institute™ has trained more than 200 credit union staff and board members, and graduated a total of 117 students from its three-year training program.  Students that complete all three-years graduate with a Certificate in CDCU Management!

Courses Offered for August 2010

CU Staff Training: Financial Management; Credit Union Management;  Fundraising; Mortgage Lending; Marketing and Cross-Selling Products & Services;  Strategic Planning; Risk Management; Credit Union Regulations; Asset-building; Negotiation Strategies; Loan Servicing; and more!

CU Board Training: Roles and Responsibility of Board Members; Assessing Board Effectiveness and Capacity to Insure Continuity; Credit Union Regulations; Strategic Planning; Leadership Development; and more!

Bonus Workshops Open to all Students: Mortgage Lending: Effective Strategies in a Difficult Economy; Emerging Market Review; Best Practices for Credit Unions; and more!

For more than 10 years, the Federation has partnered with some of our nation’s top credit union educators and community economic development specialists, including CUNA’s Center for Professional Development (CPD), Southern New Hampshire University’s School of Community Economic Development, Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) and others, to offer participants with specialized training available nowhere else in the credit union movement.

“The CDCU Institute™ curriculum has been specifically designed to assist credit unions currently serving low-income or underserved areas, or those considering expanding their field of membership to reach out to those communities. It doesn’t matter whether you’re big or small,” explained Federation Director of Education and Training Pamela Owens. “Our training program provides participants from all credit unions with the tools and knowledge they need to serve the underserved.”
