(August 31, 2009 - New York, NY) Late last week, the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) announced that its long-time CEO, Dan Mica, would be stepping down from his position in January 2011.  Mica, a former Democratic Congressman who represented his home state of Florida from 1979 to 1989, has been one of the longest-serving CEO's in CUNA history.

National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions (Federation) President/CEO Cliff Rosenthal commented on the strong working relationship the Federation has enjoyed with Mica and CUNA over the past 13 years.

“It has been a pleasure for the Federation to work with Dan Mica and his dedicated team, especially Richard McBride, for more than a decade,” said Rosenthal.  “In the months before he actually departs, we expect to have an opportunity to express our appreciation and respect more extensively, but for now, we look forward to Dan's continued and vigorous advocacy on behalf of all credit unions at a critical time in our shared history,” he added.
