CDCU Leader Named to Fed’s Advisory Council

Harriet May, president and CEO of Greater El Paso’s CU, formerly Government Employees CU (GECU) in El Paso, Texas, has been named to the Thrift Institutions Advisory Council (TIAC).  The council is an advisory group to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and meets three times each year with the Board to discuss regulatory, mortgage finance, and other issues.

Ms. May, who heads the Federation’s largest CDCU, with over 250,000 members and $1.3 billion in assets, was a featured speaker at the Federation’s 4th Latino Credit Union Conference this past June in Durham, NC.

“GECU is an outstanding institution, and we’re delighted that Harriet May will be able to share her practical expertise and credit union philosophy with the Fed’s governors,” said Cliff Rosenthal, Federation Executive Director.

Currently serving on the TIAC is Frank E. Berrish, president/CEO of Visions FCU in Endicott, NY.  Visions FCU is a Community Development Partner of the Federation.
