Vice President, Business Development & Community Engagement, Carolina Foothills Federal Credit Union
Terri Hendrix has held various positions within the credit union movement since 1986 when she was hired as the public relations officer for the South Carolina Credit Union League. She is currently the vice president of business development & community engagement for Carolina Foothills FCU, a community development financial institution (CDFI) serving the underserved areas of Spartanburg, Greenville and Cherokee Counties of Upstate South Carolina. In this role, Terri is responsible for marketing to, and developing relationships with, diverse people, groups and organizations for mutually beneficial goal attainment.
In 2013, prior to her hiring, the credit union had loan growth of 4.495%, but through engagement efforts lead by Terri, the credit union has experienced loan growth of 8.415% in 2014; 12.756% in 2015 and 14.178% in 2016. She has guided the credit union through CDFI certification and was awarded a $1.3 million grant for loan loss reserves and staff education. In addition, the credit union has won a national Louise Herring Award and national Desjardins Adult Award from CUNA.
Terri, 24-year veteran of Credit Union Development Educator program, and an International Credit Union Development Educator, has served as a technical advisor to the Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives; hosted credit union interns from Latvia, Lithuania, and the Dominican Republic; and most recently participated in the International Credit Union Leadership Program of the World Council of Credit Unions, which facilitated an exchange visit with Brazilian credit unions leaders. She currently serves on the National Credit Union Development Educator Advisory Board and Upstate of South Carolina Better Business Bureau Foundation.
She earned a bachelors of arts in journalism-advertising and public relations from The University of South Carolina. She has also completed the Certified Credit Union Executive program from the Credit Union National Association.
